This book is intended for the use of students pursuing courses in building construction and built environment, in particular, those studying quantity surveying. It is aimed to provide guidelines for these students in solving and answering examination questions. It is written in a simple way and deals with practical issues related to construction economics topics. The solutions to the problem posed are suggested answers and are not the only solutions available.
Construction Economics (Problems and Solutions) emphasises the cost aspects of building and construction projects. The three topics covered in the book deal with common questions in methods of estimation - various methods of estimation including the application of indices; feasibility study of projects - applications of projects evaluation by using simple methods such as Return on Investment (ROI), Payback Method, Discounted Cashflow Return (DCFR) and net present Value (NPV; and life-cycle-cos-application of the LCC technique in construction work by using both Present Value (PV) and Annual Equivalent (AE) methods.
